Because you're doing your research on MCSE courses, you're most likely in one of two situations: You might be wondering about a complete career change to the field of computers, and your research tells you there's a great need for certified networking professionals. In contrast you're currently an IT professional - and you want to enhance your CV with an MCSE.

We'd recommend you see evidence that your provider is supplying you with the latest version from Microsoft. A lot of students get frustrated when they find that they've been studying for an outdated MCSE program which will require an up-date. Be on your guard for training providers that are just interested in your money. You should know that purchasing a course to qualify for an MCSE is the same in a way as buying a car. They're not all the same; some are reliable and will get you there in comfort, whilst others will constantly let you down. A valid provider will spend time understanding your needs to be sure the course will work for you. If a company has a creditable product, you'll be able to see a sample of what you're getting before buying anything.

Only consider study paths which will grow into industry accepted exams. There's an endless list of minor schools pushing minor 'in-house' certificates which are worthless when it comes to finding a job. Unless your qualification is issued by a big-hitter like Microsoft, CompTIA, Adobe or Cisco, then you may discover it will be commercially useless - because no-one will recognise it.

How can job security really exist anymore? In the UK for instance, where industry can change its mind whenever it suits, we'd question whether it does. But a fast growing sector, with a constant demand for staff (due to an enormous shortage of fully trained people), opens the possibility of lasting job security.

Looking at the IT business, a key e-Skills study showed an over 26 percent shortfall of skilled workers. So, out of each 4 positions that are available in Information Technology (IT), companies can only source properly accredited workers for three of them. This one fact in itself clearly demonstrates why the UK urgently requires so many more people to join the Information Technology market. Because the IT sector is developing at the speed it is, there really isn't any other market worth looking at for retraining.
